Carlo Giannini Prize
The best conference paper written by a young scientist in Econometrics and Empirical Economics has been awarded the Carlo Giannini Prize. For a paper to be eligible for the prize, all its authors had to be under 30 years of age or no more than 3 years past a PhD defence (including current Ph.D students).
The scientific committee has short listed the following papers, among those eligible for the prize:
- “The Role of Temptation in Explaining Consumption and Investment Choice”
by Alessandro BUCCIOL - “Inflation Dynamics and the New Keynesian Phillips Curve: A Bayesian Approach”
by Andrea CARRIERO - “Effects of Employment Protection Legislation on Wages: A Regression Discontinuity Approach”
by Marco LEONARDI and Giovanni PICA - “Power Properties of Invariant Tests for Spatial Autocorrelation in Linear Regression”
by Federico MARTELLOSIO - “Testing for Model Selection in Predicting Aggregate Variables”
by Giacoma SBRANA
The winner of the Carlo Giannini Prize was announced during the ICEEE plenary session to be "Inflation Dynamics and the New Keynesian Phillips Curve: A Bayesian Approach" by Andrea CARRIERO. The motivation of the prize was read by invited speaker Annamaria LUSARDI and is “for successfully implementing an econometric method to evaluate the degree of approximation with which parameter restriction implied by a specific economic theory can be considered not rejected”.
The author of the winning paper will receive the sum of 2,500 Euros, generously given by Giornale degli Economisti
Special Issue of Giornale degli Economisti
Giornale degli Economisti publishes high-quality papers on the Italian and European economies and solicits submissions by ICEEE authors of empirical papers on these topics.
The chair of the scientific committee, Guglielmo Weber, has agreed to act as guest editor of a special issue of Giornale degli Economisti, collecting ICEEE empirical economics papers that deal with the Italian economy.
Queries and expressions of interest should be sent to the following e-mail address: weber.cide@unipd.it . The deadline for formal paper submissions is 28th February, 2007.
